Selvakumar was born on September 1st 1988 in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, India. He received the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Anna University Chennai, Tamilnadu, India in 2009 and the Master of Science (MSc) in Computational Fluid Dynamics degree from Cranfield University, UK in 2011.
In July 2009, he joined the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Tamilnadu, India as a Lecturer where he was primarily responsible for the Low-speed aerodynamics laboratory and the corresponding aerodynamic academic lectures. He continued to serve in the Department of Aeronautical Engineering until May 2010.
Since March 2012, he is active as a PhD student in the research group Internet Based Communication Networks and Services (IBCN) at Ghent University, working on optimization problems.
